Theme - Hearts of Gold

Have you ever imagined yourself in the wild, wild West? Perhaps you would be part of a caravan of covered wagons, making their way along the Oregon Trail. Or maybe you are more like a horse wrangler with spiked spurs on your boots and a twirling lasso in hand. Folks journeyed to the Western frontier for adventure, simplicity, and a new start on life, but many came seeking wealth, land, and gold.

Yet as glorious as it may seem today, the West was truly wild, and gold was not easy to come by. Miners prospected for weeks, day in and day out, shifting through riverbanks during the chilling months of winter. Those that discovered gold had the heart to stay; the hope to continue; and the dedication to overcome daily failures.

This is much like the Christian life. We are travelers in a strange land, experiencing the dangers and difficulties all around us, yet pressing on in our spiritual refinement until we stand before the Lord with pure Hearts of Gold.

This year at RYC we will be looking at the heart of a Christian and the gold standard that Jesus sets before us.
